Széchenyi Thermal Bath – FAQ
Do you need express access to the Széchenyi Baths?
No, it’s not required — but recommended during peak hours (weekends, holidays, and late mornings).
The express/fast-track ticket lets you skip the regular line at the entrance.
Ideal if you want to avoid queues or have limited time.
Only available via online purchase (not at the door).
👉 If you go early in the morning on weekdays, the regular line is usually short.
How long does a visit to the Széchenyi Baths take?
Most visitors stay between 2 and 4 hours, but you can stay the entire day if you like.
Typical visit breakdown:
- 30–45 minutes in outdoor pools
- 30–60 minutes in thermal/indoor pools and saunas
- Optional: massage (20–60 min)
Time for relaxing, sunbathing, or using the bar/café
👉 The bath is open all day, and your ticket usually covers full-day access.
Are the Széchenyi Baths heated?
Yes. All pools are heated, including outdoor ones.
- Thermal pools range from 30°C to 38°C (86°F to 100°F)
- Swimming pool: ~26–28°C (mandatory swim cap)
- Saunas: even hotter (up to 50–70°C)
👉 Even in winter, the outdoor pools are comfortably warm due to natural geothermal heating.
What size are the lockers at the Széchenyi Baths?
The lockers are medium-sized personal lockers, suitable for:
1 backpack or small duffel bag
Clothes, towel, shoes, valuables
Approximate dimensions:
- Height: 60–70 cm
Width: 30–35 cm
Depth: 40–45 cm
👉 If you prefer more privacy or space, book a cabin instead—a small private changing room that locks from the inside.
What’s the difference between a locker and a cabin?

Cabin: A private changing room that locks — more comfortable and secure.
